A Member has found a pair of glasses on the Lower Water, if you have lost a pair (Specsavers Boss Orange) please contact the Hon.Secretary.
Mayfly are still hatching, providing some amazing fishing even with coloured water!
I had a great couple of days on the Frome at the end of last week trying to catch trout on mayflies in rather muddy water. There were plenty of birds (including 3 hobbies) hunting mayflies too and having a much easier time finding them than the trout were. Remarkably some of the fish (none of them stockies) did manage to see the fly so the trip was not entirely unsuccessful.
But here’s a photo of the one that got away.
All the best, Doug

‘Fishing for Life’ is an organization which provides fly fishing sessions for people who all have one thing in common – breast cancer. The Dorset Branch holds meetings every month at Wrackleford Estate during the fly fishing season and West Bay at other times. At these sessions they are able to learn to fly fish under the supervision of qualified coaches. Please go to http://www.southwestfishingforlife.org.uk for more information on the organization.
This is our first fundraising event in Dorset that will allow us to provide these sessions free of charge to the participant. As well as learning to fly fish, knot tying, entomology, fly tying and conservation are all included in the program and each morning’s session is concluded with a buffet lunch.
We are raising the funds to pay for venue hire and equipment. I am very grateful to the coaches who give of their time freely and provide such a wealth of knowledge.
Please let me know if you would like to come along.
