I am pleased to report that the large pike is still resident in the pool and is alive, well & fighting fit. We met briefly late on Saturday afternoon – I’m not sure which of us was most shocked at the encounter. Fantastic scrap on a fly rod – deep boring runs and then tail walking across the pool.
Safely unhooked (thanks to barbless hook), weighed in the net, photographed then revived and released unharmed. Approximate weight well over 11 pounds. Magnificent fish.
Ps> thanks to John Aplin for getting me interested in this in the first place!
