River looked great

Escaped for a couple of hours this evening and fished my usual stretch, covered very little water owing to a good number of fish of all sizes rising freely to Mayfly with a few aerial displays thrown in from the smaller fish.

Mayfly imitation worked well and landed two fish pretty smartly. Had great satisfaction in winkleing out a 15” wild fish, all spots and steely sheen with a PTN just as the light was going as it was hoovering up ascending nymphs. River looked great, and a pretty decent flow considering the lack of rain.

Met fellow member Nick who had similar experience of fish sucking the fly but not being pricked, perhaps greater strike rate with a mayfly nymph would work – or is this too sacrilegious…
