Dear Members – Another whole week of work parties.
We have decided to have another full, hands on week cutting back the willow that has gone rather mad over the last few years, encroaching on some of our great fishing and hopefully by letting in some more light we can encourage the Ranunculus to return.
The club will again be employing my work mate Kevin Ackerman, who many of you know, for a few days to help out, we also have the help of a great lad from Sparsholt college.
The big ask… Could we have as many hands as possible to help with dragging, stacking and keeping those fires going, talking fishing and eating ginger cake.
Willow week – Monday the 21st October to Friday the 25th October.
Action plan
Monday 21st – 9am meet at Poundbury lay-by.
Tuesday 22nd – 9am meet at Poundbury lay-by.
Wednesday 23rd – 9am meet at Poundbury lay-by.
Thursday 24th – 9am meet at Poundbury lay-by.
Friday 25th – 9am meet at the Lower water.
Seriously looking forward to the week and fingers crossed for low water levels.

The waters extend both above and below the town of Dorchester and the Club employs a part-time keeper.

The Police have made it quite clear that poaching is a crime in progress covered by the 1968 Theft Act. Members should always call 999 to report it and not phone the keeper. Without a report the police will not be aware of the extent of a problem.
If possible note or photo vehicles.

Angling’s representative body, the Angling Trust, has a web site for anglers to record sightings of cormorants, goosanders and mergansers throughout the UK: www.cormorantwatch.com The site is easy to use and will gather vital data to help persuade government of the need for action to protect fisheries.
Invasive plants and animals can carry diseases that kill fish, block waterways and banks, interfering with fishing. They can be small and hard to spot, so are easily spread on damp clothing and equipment.
Protect the environment and fishing you enjoy, by keeping your kit free of invasive plants and animals.
