30 Years Service
Our Riverkeeper John Aplin has now been with the Club for 30 years and the Managing Committee treated him to a celebratory meal at The Wise Man, West Stafford. He was presented with an engraved hip flask and a bottle of good stuff to fill it!
Along the 30 years we have enjoyed his legendary work party curries, learnt how to fish for grayling at his grayling social days, AGM slideshows, best of all his riverside chats and guidance, on all things fishing, especially to new members. John has and still is instrumental in our continuing quest to improve the river, driving them forward to completion.
He is a true gent and an important ambassador for the Club – we are lucky to have him by our side – here’s to the next 30 years.

The Club
The Club is a private one, founded in 1877, of approximately sixty-four members and six Town Rod subscribers. The Club’s waters consist of about 12 miles of wild brown trout & grayling fishing in the main River Frome, River Cerne and River Piddle, together with attendant carriers and side streams. The waters extend both above and below the town of Dorchester and the Club employs a part-time keeper.
