AGM 2025

Monday November 10th, saw the club’s AGM at the end of our 148th year.

As if that were not significant enough, the meeting was notable as it marked Bryan Sennett’s final meeting after 15 years in the Chair. Bryan’s extraordinary service was marked by a short presentation led by incoming chair Trevor Prince at the conclusion of the evening’s business.

In his presentation, Trevor remarked on Bryan’s steady and consistent leadership of the Club and how highly this had been valued by the Managing Committee. In particular his inimitable style was noted – “… a gentle and steady hand on the tiller of our Club”. Bryan always found time to lead and communicate empathetically, positively and constructively in all his dealings and this Trevor felt, was a hallmark of his tenure.

As a mark of appreciation Trevor and Robin Ayles, on behalf of the Committee and members, presented Bryan with a custom made fountain pen and pencil set (made by Paul Oatham) and a landing net. The pen set is hand made of exotic hardwood in a leather presentation case and the landing net has a long handle, apparently something Bryan has wanted for a while.

Bryan joked that while he’ll need to work on his best handwriting, at least he’ll no longer be dependent on Rob to help him net his fish!
