Grayling Update 2025

Happy New Year.

A rather mixed bag of weather so far this winter, much better than the last one!

Longish dry, cold spells in between storms and torrential rain, enabling a few of you to get out after the grayling, mixed reports trickling in, mostly good 😊

One or two of you, struggling, mostly those who stick to nymphing, a small tip is to swap that heavy point fly with lots of split shot, keeps your flies close to the bottom without snagging..

Those doing a little trotting, defiantly getting a few, a good number of two pounders this winter, one member, early in the new year had nine fish over two pounds along with a fish of 2lb 9 oz and a magical 3lb 1oz, on a proper frosty, cold grayling day 😊

Enjoy your winter fishing.

Thank you John, for those of us who live too far away to be able to pop down to the river to fish or just to walk along the bank on a beautiful winters day your posts keep us in touch, even if they do make the fingers start to itch at the mere thought of 3lb Grayling..
    Cheers
