Nick Maskrey asks that members lobby their MP’s to join the new parliamentary committee and to finally do something about the pollution that pours into our rivers.
“I have today sent this message to my MP – it would be a good idea if other members did the same…’As a fly fisherman for more than 50 years I have become increasingly appalled by the deterioration of our chalkstreams from pollution, agrichemicals and abstraction. An all party parliamentary committee is being set up in the House of Commons to investigate the plight of the chalkstreams and I would beseech you to join it to best represent those of your constituents who share these concerns’.”

Angling’s representative body, the Angling Trust, has a web site for anglers to record sightings of cormorants, goosanders and mergansers throughout the UK: www.cormorantwatch.com The site is easy to use and will gather vital data to help persuade government of the need for action to protect fisheries.
Invasive plants and animals can carry diseases that kill fish, block waterways and banks, interfering with fishing. They can be small and hard to spot, so are easily spread on damp clothing and equipment.
Protect the environment and fishing you enjoy, by keeping your kit free of invasive plants and animals.
