Preparation for the 1st April

Talking point, the weather, what a winter, probably rained most days since October…

On a positive I would like to think the ground water levels, clean gravels and a spurt in Ranunculus will now lead us into a fabulous season.

The forecast for the start of the season can sadly be described as unsettled, with this in mind please take care, the banks are slippery and our beats rather deeper than usual.

The off road parking at Whitfield and the Lower water are off limits until further notice!!

When the sun does come out and it feels warm out of the wind there are a few Grannom, Olives and midges hatching, they seem to like hanging out in the flowering Blackthorn.

Perhaps explore some of our smaller beats to start the season and roll on a lovely dry spring with rising fish..

Again please let me know if you see something that needs doing and I will get it done as soon as I can – John Aplin

Have a great season.
